Press Power

YOUR WORDS HAVE POWER

PiP’s Press Power program brings letterpress educators and printing presses to communities to create posters that amplify voices and promote social justice.

A Hands-On Letterpress Printing Experience with a Purpose

You’ve heard the saying, “the freedom of the press is guaranteed only to those who own one.” Partners in Print believes that freedom and power should belong to everyone.

What do you want to say to your community?

Individuals pick their own word or phrase inspired by a theme of the organization’s choosing. Then they compose their words with wood type, ink and print their message on a printing press, and hang their posters for all to see.

Sharing your voice with the community is part of the Press Power experience.
For National Welcoming Week, Welcoming Ambassadors facilitated immigrant and refugee-printed posters in over 12 languages.
The letterpress tools we bring are accessible and fun.
Responses in languages other than English and Spanish encouraged!
Seattle Pacific University students print messages of love and acceptance
Press Power builds community with type and ink at the Seattle Dyke March.
Press Power can be adapted for any size event (or person).
Path with Art’s ambassadors affirm the transformative power of art
Visitors share what books mean to them at the Seattle Art Book Fair
PIP volunteers enthusiastically share wood type for poster printing.
